Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices Springfield, Illinois

Abraham Lincoln practiced law in several buildings during his career in Springfield. This is the only surviving building where he maintained a law office. Lincoln moved into the building in 1843 and with different partners, practiced here until about 1850. The building also contains the only federal courtroom in Illinois between 1841 and 1849. The Springfield post office was also located here. The law offices are a Illinois State Historic Site.
