Gettysburg National Battlefield Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

The Battle of Gettysburg, fought July 1 to July 3, 1863, was a turning point in the Civil War. This Union victory in Pennsylvania ended General Robert E. Lee’s second and most ambitious invasion of the North. It was the war’s bloodiest battle with 51,000 casualties. Four months later, it also provided President Lincoln with the setting for his famous Gettysburg Address.
