Almost everybody reveres Lincoln’s talents as a great public communicator, but few recognize the genius of his behind-the-scenes organizational management. During his years in Illinois politics, Lincoln developed a unique style of partisan command that proved essential to his later success as Civil War president. Historian Matthew Pinkser will discuss this transformation, using some new evidence from the Papers of Abraham Lincoln project and featuring insights from his forthcoming book.
The event will be held in the Library of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum at 5:30 pm. The event is free but reservations required. Call (217)558-8844 or visit the ALPLM site and click on “special tickets” to register.
